In this awe-inspiring sequel to Hale's The Goose Girl, Ani's best friend, Enna, is sent on a marvelous adventure. Enna soon finds that her brother Leifer has found the secret to making fire without a spark.
The secret is contained within a mysterious vellum that Leifer found buried under a lightning struck tree. Although the fire is taking over Leifer, there are bigger problems. Bayern is at war with the neighboring kingdom of Stora. When Enna learns the fire too, she tries to help Bayern win the war. Along the way her friendships with Ani, Razo, and Finn are tested to their limits. I won't spoil the ending but this story is amazing. Hale separates the story into little sections and tells you what part of the story Enna plays in each section. It helps you understand the story more and you burrow into the story more.
